New architecture in South Tyrol 2018 – 2024
Invitation to submit projects from the years 2018 – 2024
Dear Architects,
In autumn 2024, Kunst Meran Merano Arte, together with the South Tyrolean Artists' Association and the South Tyrol Architecture Foundation, will present the fourth edition of the exhibition entitled “New Architecture in South Tyrol 2018 – 2024”, and publish the fourth book on the selected projects.
We would therefore like to invite you to submit, by 23 January 2024, the projects that you have realised in South Tyrol between 2018 and 2024 for selection by an international jury.
The jurors for the fourth edition
Filippo Bricolo (I), freelance architect (Bricolo Falsarella Architetti), Lecturer at the Milan Politecnico, Italy
Elisa Valero Ramos (SP), freelance architect, Professor for Architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, University of Granada, Spain
Annette Spiro (CH), freelance architect (Spiro + Gantenbein Architekten ETH/SIA AG), Full Professor of Architecture and Construction, ETH (Federal Institute of Technology), Zurich, Switzerland
Curator of the fourth edition
In parallel with to his work on the jury, Filippo Bricolo (IT) is the curator of the new edition.
His curatorial concept focuses on transformations and transformation processes in the architecture of South Tyrol (see: Curatorial statement by Filippo Bricolo)
General information
- Projects that were exhibited at the 2018 exhibition may not be re-submitted.
- A maximum number of 5 (five) projects per architect/architecture firm is permitted.
- The following documentation must be provided for each project submitted
- Technical sheet
- Project description
- Images (300 dpi)
- Please name documents and attachments (project data sheet, project description, images) as follows:
NameofArchitecturestudio_ProjectTitle_Project data sheet (PDF)
NameofArchitecturestudio_ProjectTitle_Project description (PDF)
NameofArchitecturestudio_ProjectTitle_Image_NamePhotographer
- A data sheet (see attachment 3_Datenblatt_Scheda tecnica) must also be completed for all projects submitted.
- Each project submitted should be described and presented on two, in the case of large projects on a maximum of three, DIN A3 sheets (portrait format) (site plan with context; floor plans/sections/views; project description) (Document: “Project description”)
- Images: max. 5 photos indoors the document and max. 5 photos outdoors. The images must be high resolution (300 dpi) and the photographer’s name must always be given.
- Projects that are in the final stage of realisation may be submitted: it must however be possible to visit the site in order to assess the project. Photos of the finished building may be submitted until the end of May 2024.
- In addition to submitting your own projects, it is also possible to refer to other projects. If, for example, this e-mail does not reach foreign colleagues, we would ask for your assistance or your nominations: we will then request the necessary documentation.
Procedure
On the first jury day, the jurors will review all projects online then make a shortlist. The shortlisted projects will be inspected on site on the three or four subsequent jury days.We would be grateful for your help in organising the on-site inspections or contacting the project principal (as indicated in the project data sheet). It is not our intention for a photographer to take photos of all projects. Based upon the positive experiences of the last edition, we would ask you to provide us with high-resolution images (300 dpi) for the purposes of the exhibition, its communication and publication (we are planning a trilingual catalogue in German, Italian and English for distribution by an international publisher). Please therefore clearly establish all image rights. As for previous editions, the exhibition will be designed as a travelling exhibition. Following its first presentation at Kunst Meran/o Arte at the end of October 2024, the exhibition will be staged at other locations in Central Europe.
