Come ci si può prendere cura di un lascito d’artista? Mariah Nielson è la figlia dello scultore americano JB Blunk (1926-2002) e dal 2007 dirige il JB Blunk Estate. Grazie a precise scelte curatoriali, la storica del design contestualizza il lavoro del padre in mostre, pubblicazioni e residenze, assicurando che la sua opera rimanga viva e attuale. Nel corso della sua conferenza, illustrerà il suo lavoro e fornirà esempi di come ha archiviato e documentato il suo lavoro e ha istituito il lascito d’artista.

La formazione di Mariah Nielson in archittetura ha influenzato il suo lavoro di curatrice e storica del design. Ha lavorato come curatrice al Museum of Craft and Design di San Francisco (2009-2011) e come direttrice della JB Blunk Residency (2007-2011). Nel 2013 ha completato un master in storia del design presso il Royal College of Art e il Victoria & Albert Museum di Londra. Attualmente è direttrice del JB Blunk Estate e dello spazio espositivo Blunk Space.

How can one take care of an artistic estate? Mariah Nielson is the daughter of the American sculptor JB Blunk (1926-2002) and has been the director of the JB Blunk estate since 2007. Through intelligent curatorial decisions, the design historian contextualises her father's work in exhibitions, publications and residencies, ensuring that Blunk's work remains alive and relevant. . In her lecture, she will give an insight into her work with the JB Blunk estate and give examples of how she archived and documented his work and established the estate.

Mariah Nielson’s background as an architect has informed her work as a curator and design historian. She worked as curator at the Museum of Craft and Design, San Francisco, (2009–2011) and as director of the JB Blunk Residency (2007-2011). In 2013, she completed an MA in Design History at the Royal College of Art and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Mariah is currently the Director of the JB Blunk Estate and the  Blunk Space.
